Cinematic Film Recipes

Low contrast film recipes with a cinematic feel

One of the wonderful gifts that the engineers at Fujifilm have given us, is the Eterna Cinema film simulation. The soft smooth feel of this recipe is wonderful for capturing golden hour, misty weather and a moody flat tone look.

I’ve made around 50 recipes that capture a generally cinematic vibe, many with Eterna simulation, but also using others, such as Pro Neg Standard and Classic Chrome.

From this category I have many that I really enjoy, but as a shortlist of just three I’d recommend, Flatpack, Nordic Soft and Superia Loco.

More Cinematic Recipes

In general cinema films are shot using a low contrast, moody look. This soft artistic style also looks great in still images, especially in soft light, or if the subject has the look of a cinematic scene. Here are some more samples from other recipe collections…

  • SantaColor – A soft look from Ritchie at FujiXWeekly
  • FH16 – Wonderfully moody Classic Neg by Mark Freeman
  • Medulin – A Captn Look beauty which requires a FLD filter
  • The Big Negative – a truly wonderful film-like look (YouTube)
